Building the Shelter

OKState Rowing builds a home!

With the nationwide cancellation of regattas due to the global pandemic, OKState Rowing turned their talents to construction, buying and building a massive steel shelter for the boats and other equipment at Lake Carl Blackwell. After 2 years of storing equipment on the shoreline, the generosity of family and friends of the team allowed for the purchase of much needed protection for the program! Measuring at 52' by 70', this structure helps protect our boats from the Oklahoma rain, wind, snow, and all things in between.

Lake Carl Blackwell Boathouse

"It's a great art, rowing. It's the finest there is. It's a symphony of motion. And when you're rowing well, why it's nearly perfection. And when you're near perfection, you're touching the Divine. It touches the you of yous. Which is your soul."

-George Yeoman Pocock    (Boys in the Boat, 2013)
