REBECCA KORN
ASSISTANT COACH

As a freshman at Oklahoma State in 2018, Coach Korn discovered the sport of rowing and was instantly hooked. While pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Ecology and Management, she competed as a member of the Women's Varsity 8+ until COVID-19 forced the program into small boats. Unphased, Korn focused primarily on sculling for the remainder of her collegiate rowing career resulting in gold medals at the 2021 USRowing Club Nationals and the 2022 ACRA National Championship. She is excited to apply her knowledge and experience to train the next generation of OSU rowers.

MICHAELA SMITH
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Coach Smith has more than twenty years of lifting experience, eleven years of competing as a powerlifter, and is a United States Army veteran. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. Her primary goals are to prevent injuries through strength and foster  both mental and physical toughness.

“Every good rowing coach, in his own way, imparts to his men the kind of self-discipline required to achieve the ultimate from mind, heart, and body. Which is why most ex-oarsmen will tell you they learned more fundamentally important lessons in the racing shell than in the classroom.”
― Daniel James Brown

Lake Carl Blackwell Boathouse

"It's a great art, rowing. It's the finest there is. It's a symphony of motion. And when you're rowing well, why it's nearly perfection. And when you're near perfection, you're touching the Divine. It touches the you of yous. Which is your soul."

-George Yeoman Pocock    (Boys in the Boat, 2013)
